stay at the great house
Discover a Timeless Retreat
Immerse yourself in centuries of charm when you stay at The Great House. Nestled in Lavenham, one of England’s most beautifully preserved medieval villages, our five individually styled rooms capture the essence of its timber‑framed heritage. Each space strikes a perfect balance of sophistication and quirkiness, luxury and intimacy, giving you a home-away-from-home wrapped in tradition.
Explore Lavenham & Beyond
Just beyond our doors, step into a living tapestry of timber-framed beauty, cobbled lanes and rich heritage. Lavenham boasts over 300 listed buildings—including the enchanting De Vere House, instantly recognisable from its appearance in Harry Potter, and the famously photogenic Crooked House, a local treasure that captures the village’s whimsical charm. Spend your days exploring antique shops, cosy tearooms, and countryside paths. Whether you're a history buff, culture lover, or simply seeking a quiet escape, our team is here to help you uncover the very best of Lavenham and its storybook surroundings.

The building has a small step at the entrance, and we have a ramp available on request—our team will be happy to assist. As The Great House is a Grade II* listed building, all guest rooms are located upstairs, we are unable to make structural alterations to install lift access. Unfortunately, this also means we do not have an accessible toilet on site.
